Constitutional Chamber of Costa Rica condemns public official for violating freedom of the press

“The Constitutional Chamber condemned Yamileth Astorga, the executive president of the Costa Rican Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (AyA), for violating the freedom of the press and expression, after asking officials of the institution to deny information of public relevance to the outlets Diario Extra and CRHoy.

According to the appeal for protection presented against Astorga, the affirmation were expressed during a meeting with the AyA union, and they were asked "not to feed" the news outlets because "they only published thing that weakened the image of the institution and what they want was to privatize it."
