Cuba: Humor supplement of El Toque closes due to director's resignation

"Cuban cartoonist Wimar Verdecia, director of the graphic humor supplement Xel2, of the independent news outlet El Toque, resigned from his job due to pressure and blackmail exerted by the Cuban political police, which resulted in the closure of the publication.

With this decision, cartoonists Ramsés Morales Izquierdo, Fabián Sotolongo, Brady Izquierdo, Alen Lauzán, Mary Esther Lemus Cordero and Iran Hernández have also been indirectly affected, as they worked on this project that focused mainly on political satire.

In the case of Wimar Verdecia, the cartoonist also resigned from 'drawing for any independent news outlet in Cuba now and in the future.'"
