"Cuban independent journalist Cynthia de la Cantera announced this Sunday [July 24] on Facebook that she was forced to abandon her profession due to pressure from that country's State Security apparatus.
De la Cantera said that she has publicly denounced the harassment that the repressive bodies have kept on her and her partner during the last two years.
The independent journalist explained that she decided to abandon journalism because she is not willing to accept either of the two options offered to her during recent interrogations: to collaborate with State Security or get ready for criminal proceedings against her."
