Cuban journalist Henry Constantín released without charge after spending 44 hours in detention

"Independent journalist Henry Constantín was released Friday [Jan. 16] in Havana after being detained for 44 hours without charge [...]. Constantín, director of the independent media outlet La Hora de Cuba and regional vice president for Cuba of the Inter-American Press Association's (IAPA) Committee on Freedom of the Press, announced his release in a video posted on Facebook [...].

‘The 44 hours of unjustified arrest, kidnapping, disappearance are over,’ said Constantín, who explained that his detention coincided with the wake for the 32 Cubans who died in Venezuela, in a context of high political tension and heavy presence of security agents in the capital.
