"On Monday morning, March 20, 2023, journalist Lenin Artieda was the victim of an attack with explosives. It was learned that a sealed envelope arrived on Thursday, March 16 at the Ecuavisa television station's facilities. On Monday, the journalist proceeded to open and extract the content of the envelope.
Inside the envelope, there was an USB pen drive, which exploded as soon as it was connected to a computer. According to the media outlet, the journalist did not suffer any injury as a result of the attack.
'Artieda is in good health. He was not injured. Neither was any employee of this media outlet,' it stated.
Regarding the attack, Fundamedios organization condemned the facts and commented via Twitter: 'Fundamedios condemns the attack against journalist Lenin Artieda at Ecuavisa's offices in Guayaquil. Artieda received an explosive device, which detonated at the facilities, leaving no injuries or material damage. An alert is in process.'"
