"Journalist Fernando Álvarez, founder and administrator of the digital media outlet FernandoTV, was murdered on the night of Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025, in the Salitre coliseum, Guayas province, while participating in a soccer game with friends.
According to preliminary information from the National Police and the organization Fundamedios, several armed individuals entered the sports complex and repeatedly shot Álvarez. The journalist was hit by at least 15 bullets and died at the scene.

Álvarez was known locally for his work at FernandoTV, a digital news site where he published local news and citizen complaints. The State Attorney General's Office has opened an investigation to determine the causes of and those responsible for the crime."
