The lawsuit against Aguilar and Pallares was motivated by the digital show ‘Politizados.' In episode 9 of Feb. 1, 2024 called: ‘Cae la doctora, lobista del correísmo’ [The doctor, lobbyist for Correism, falls], in which they talked about the case of Bibian Hernández. According to the lawsuit against the two journalists, in said program discrediting expressions were uttered against Hernández and it was insinuated that she was involved in ‘dark and secret operations.’

Regarding Ortiz, the accusation for slander is related to the journalistic report titled ‘Ecuador, el cielo de los 'abogánsters’ [Ecuador, the heaven of 'mob-lawyers'] published on Jan. 26, 2025. In the article, the journalist refers to public cases of the Attorney General's Office in which there are lawyers allegedly involved in issues of influence peddling, asset laundering and even organized crime".
