"A court sentenced to 34 years and six months in prison two people accused as material authors of the murder of journalist Gerardo Delgado in October of last year, informed this Monday [April 24] the Ecuadorian Public Prosecutor's Office.
'Based on evidence presented at the trial, the Prosecutor's Office obtained a sentence of 34 years for Juan E. and Geremy V. as perpetrators of the journalist's murder," the Ecuadorian Public Prosecutor's Office specified on its Twitter account.
The crime took place on Oct. 10, 2022 on a road between the cities of Manta and Montecristi, in the coastal province of Manabí, Ecuador. The prosecutor of the case, Alexandra Bravo, told journalists the conviction is the maximum penalty in this type of crime. However, she said the case is still under investigation to discover the intellectual authors and the motive of the crime."
