"The Association of Journalists of El Salvador (APES, by its English acronym) registered between January and October 2022 a total of 86 aggressions and the departure of 10 journalists from the country. This is due mainly to penal reforms that punish the publication of information related to gangs, according to what was reported on Mon. Oct. 17.
This was reported to the EFE news agency by Angélica Cárcamo, president of APES. She also pointed out that 'although it is a lower number' than in 2021, the 'serious' thing is that the incidents reported in 2022 are 'more aggressive.'"
