English journalist and threatened Indigenist are missing in the Amazon

"Indigenist Bruno Araújo Pereira, from the National Indian Foundation (Funai), and English journalist Dom Phillips, a contributor to The Guardian newspaper, disappeared in Vale do Javari, in the Amazon, while traveling between the Ribeirinha São Rafael community to the city of Atalaia do Norte. The information was confirmed to GLOBO by the Union of Indigenous Peoples of Vale do Javari (Univaja). The federal public prosecutor's office, the Federal Police and the Army have already been called to carry out a search. Bruno Araújo was a constant target of threats for the work he had been doing together with the Indigenous people against invaders in the region, fishermen, prospectors and loggers.

...

According to Univaja leaders, the two traveled with the aim of visiting the Indigenous Surveillance team located near the town called Lago do Jaburu (near the Funai Surveillance Base on the Ituí River), so that the journalist could visit the place and do some interviews with the Indigenous people."
