The EFE news agency and the Secretary of State for International Cooperation, through the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID, for its initials in Spanish), opened the call for the King of Spain International Awards for Journalism 2025, which recognize the best works of journalism in Spain and Latin America. Next year will be the 42nd edition of these awards, endowed with €10,000 per category, according to a press release from EFE.

Professionals who wish to apply can submit their works in the categories of narrative journalism, international cooperation and humanitarian action, environmental journalism, cultural journalism, photography and Ibero-American media organization before Dec. 21.

For this edition, applications will be vetted in two phases. In the first, the jury will choose three finalists per category and announce them publicly. In the second, the final winners will be announced. This edition will also mark the return of the EFE Award, which was given from 1977 to 1983 to recognize the work of the professional teams of the EFE agency.
