"On Oct. 27, Edinson Bolaños, journalist and director of the magazine [Revista Raya], was contacted by an investigator of the Technical Investigation Corps of the Attorney General's Office of Colombia [CTI or Cuerpo Técnico de Investigación de la Fiscalía General de Colombia], who stated that he had an order issued by Local Prosecutor's Office 515 to carry out a judicial inspection of the news outlet's files and sources.

After Bolaños refused to provide the information, stating that he had not been notified by the Prosecutor's Office regarding the proceedings, on Oct. 30, he received the official letter No. 49805. By mail he was asked to inform about the sources used to structure the investigation: 'sexual harassment audios related to Colonel Esparza, the mastermind of Operation Checkmate.' This notified decision is a flagrant violation of a source's confidentiality, which seriously affects journalistic practice and an undermines standards of respect for freedom of expression."
