“At FLIP we have documented that since June 16, three media directors in Florencia, Caquetá, have been summoned to a meeting by Bloc Commander Jorge Suárez Briceño of the Central General Staff [of the FARC dissidents]. Each director received a photograph through WhatsApp in which they were told that they should go to a nearby village and in the image they could see a rifle. On June 18, the group reiterated the summons with the same message.
As a consequence, the three journalists have decided to stop publishing content related to the situation of security and public order in the department. One of them even deleted journalistic articles that has already been published. This negatively impacts the flow of information on local issues and affects the community's right to be informed on issues that are crucial for decision-making.”
