Foreign correspondents in Argentina warn of government restrictions on public information

"The Association of Foreign Correspondents of the Argentine Republic (ACERA, for its initials in Spanish) issued this Monday [March 10] a statement denouncing the different measures that impede the free professional practice of journalism in the country, ranging from the 'silencer button' announced by the presidential spokesman, Manuel Adorni, to aggressions of the security forces against reporters covering demonstrations.

'President Javier Milei has not offered any press conference since he took office fourteen months ago', ACERA said and explained that 'this results in the fact that the President's communication with foreign media is extremely selective, according to political criteria and arbitrary conditions imposed by the president's office'."
