The events occurred after the journalist published a news report that revealed that human remains were found in clandestine graves in the La Retama ranch, in Tamaulipas, which is allegedly owned by García Cabeza de Vaca. On Aug. 25, the politician denied the facts and published on his Twitter account that he reserved the right to proceed legally against the author of the article. This type of threats seeks to intimidate the freedom of expression of journalists and media by intimidating the press from publishing certain information about the actions of public officials.
