"The Gabo Foundation, an institution created in 1995 by journalist and Nobel Prize in Literature Gabriel García Márquez, announced the finalists of the eleventh edition of the Gabo Awards, the most important journalism recognition in Spanish and Portuguese.
The list of finalists is made up of three works in each of the five contest categories: Text, Coverage, Image, Audio, and Photography.
The selection was made through a two-round judging process involving an independent jury of 65 journalists, photographers and writers with extensive experience and recognition. This group of professionals from all over Ibero-America evaluated a total of 1,943 works published between June 7, 2022 and March 21, 2023, and chose 50 nominees (10 for each category), which were announced on June 15.
From that list of 50, these 15 finalist works were chosen, which stood out for unraveling hidden stories and facts, through innovative, ethical and rigorous journalism in their respective categories."
