‘Gabo’ journalism festival to be held this weekend in Colombia with more than 170 speakers

“The Gabo Festival celebrates its 12th edition to highlight the best stories and creative expressions from Ibero-America and the world. From July 5 to July 7, this event organized annually by the Fundación Gabo will bring together more than 170 speakers in more than 140 sessions for all ages, focusing on journalism, art, literature, music, theater, film, and the cultural diversity of our region.

‘Stories for awakenings’ is the editon’s theme, which comes amid significant commemorations. A decade after the death of Gabriel García Márquez, and approaching his birth centennial in 2027, the Gabo Festival continues to show that journalism lives on and resists oppression. The legacy of excellence left by García Márquez – the founder of the Gabo Foundation 30 years ago – grows and inspires creators worldwide. They help us look optimistically towards the future and seek solutions to the challenges of misinformation, the weakening of democracy, and the complexities of war; some of the topics featured in the program.”
