“In seeking to convey and expose the difficulties and problems facing community journalism in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, various social organizations from affected countries and the region requested to have a thematic hearing before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) in November of this year.
The requesting entities, including the World Association of Community Radio Stations for Latin America and the Caribbean (AMARC ALC, for its acronym in Spanish), seek to convey 'the situation of violence and discrimination experienced by community media in these countries,' as well as the debts of States in the face of 'international human rights standards and rulings of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (Inter-American Court).'”
