"Grupo Extra journalist Daniel Suárez received a series of threats on social media after being recorded while covering President Rodrigo Chaves' press conference last Wednesday (April 9) in Atenas [Alajuela province, Costa Rica].
Suárez, who is responsible for covering the Presidency of the Republic, attended the event and had the opportunity to ask the president questions, as did journalists from other media outlets.
The journalist asked Chaves what his message was after some of his followers on social media spoke of taking up arms and responding violently, following discussion about lifting the president's immunity after an accusation made against him by the Attorney General's Office.
The question sparked a violent reaction from several of the president's supporters. Even Chaves himself urged calm, reminding them that the journalist 'was just working and is a good friend.'

Then a woman, wearing a shirt with the image of the billboards demanding the resignation of several leaders, began recording the journalist and directly insulting him."
