"A Guatemalan court suspended this Wednesday [May 17] the start of deliberations against four agents of the National Civil Police (PNC, by its Spanish acronym), accused of the illegal arrest of community journalist Norma Sancir in 2014, due to the fact that one of the accused did not show up.

Police agent Marcelina López was absent at the start of the deliberations against her and three of her colleagues, in the Sentencing Court of the department (province) of Chiquimula, located 270 kilometers [167 miles] east of Guatemala City.

[...]

The start of the deliberations were rescheduled for June 18, in a case that has been delayed at least eight times due to similar circumstances during almost nine years of criminal proceedings."
