"Honduran journalist and former deputy candidate in her country, Kenia Lili González Sánchez, was expelled from Nicaragua on Friday, Aug. 4, 2023 for 'defending' Catholic priests persecuted in Nicaragua, as she had denounced in a video posted on her social media.
According to the journalist, when she was 'about12-18 miles from Managua,' agents in patrol cars of the General Directorate of Migration and Foreigners blocked her passage and informed her that she had to go with them.
At the border post, they grabbed her suitcase and put it in another room, while she waited for an explanation of what had happened. After several minutes, they read her a document in which they informed her that 'the Nicaraguan government considered her an unwelcome person for posting in favor of Christians in Nicaragua.'"
