"The Committee for Free Expression (C-Libre) strongly condemned the physical and verbal assault against journalist Leónidas Maradiaga and his cameraman, both from Une TV. The attack occurred while they were covering a political rally led by Tegucigalpa Mayor Jorge Aldana in the Villa Franca neighborhood of Comayagüela.
According to video footage and eyewitness accounts, members of the Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre) assaulted the journalist while he was reporting live, hitting him and causing physical injuries. Political leaders and elected officials from the ruling party were present at the scene but did not intervene to stop the attack.
'Violence against journalists violates Honduras’ international obligations,' C-Libre said."
