Honduras recorded 50 violations of freedom of expression and press freedom in 2022

"In Honduras, half a hundred violations of freedom of expression and press freedom were recorded during 2022, including the murder of five people linked to the media, according to data released Wednesday [March 23] by the National Commissioner for Human Rights (CONADEH, by its Spanish acronym).

According to the Honduran organization, the most frequent were threats, aggressions, attacks, harassment, intimidation, arbitrary detentions, forced displacement, and the murder of two journalists, two community journalists and a cameraman.

The five murders of people linked to the media were reported in the departments of Lempira, Cortés, Atlántida, Choluteca, and Francisco Morazán, in the west, north, Caribbean, south, and center of the Central American country, it added."
