"After several weeks of investigation and demands for justice, the National Police identified and captured the person allegedly responsible for the death of journalist and Indigenous leader Pablo Isabel Hernández.
The detainee is a 22-year-old man, a native and resident of the village of Guanajulque, in the municipality of San Marcos de Caiquín, in the department of Lempira.

The crime against Hernández took place on Jan. 9, 2022, when the victim was on his way to a religious center. He was intercepted by unknown individuals who shot him repeatedly until they took his life without saying a word.
[...] His comrades in struggle believe that it was due to the work he was doing as an Indigenous leader from the Tenán radio station and for the constant criticism he was levelling towards politicians in the region."
