The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) granted precautionary measures regarding the safety of nine journalists working at radio stations in Colombia, after "considering that they are in a situation of serious risk as a result of death threats and harassment attributed to armed groups operating in the area where they carry out their journalistic work."

According to the request, journalists were summoned to a meeting by members of armed groups, and those who refused to attend were threatened with military targeting. These threats continued, leading journalists to limit their journalistic activity. The State reported on the protection measures implemented by the National Protection Unit, as well as preventive security measures by public forces and risk assessments of beneficiaries.

The IACHR, upon analyzing the request, concluded that the risk situation for journalists had not been adequately mitigated, as death threats persisted and their journalistic work was being affected. Therefore, the IACHR decided to grant precautionary measures."
