“The Office of the Special Rapporteur for Freedom of Expression (RELE, for its acronym in Spanish) of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) said that 'considerations were reiterated regarding the concentration of media, its implications for freedom of expression and the right to an informed society,' during its visit to Chile between March 18 and 21, to monitor and collect information on the situation of the right to freedom of expression in the country.
During the visit, the rapporteur's delegation received several complaints related to the current regulation on commercial frequency concessions, which, as provided, 'would encourage maintaining the stations indefinitely over time.'"
