IACHR will analyze abusive use of Pegasus spy program against journalists and civil society in El Salvador

"During a Wednesday [March 16] hearing, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) will examine the large-scale use of the Pegasus spy program to monitor journalists and members of civil society in El Salvador.

The move follows a joint investigation by the organizations Access Now and Citizen Lab published in January, which identified the use of the notorious Pegasus spyware by the NSO Group company against journalists and members of civil society organizations in El Salvador.

Technical experts from Amnesty International's Laboratory on Security reviewed the findings and independently verified expert evidence showing the abusive use of Pegasus in the country."
