The Consortium to Support Independent Journalism in the Region (CAPIR, by its Spanish acronym), an initiative of the Institute for War and Peace Reporting (IWPR), has launched the IMDI Hyperlocal Program, an initiative specially designed to encourage hyperlocal media in Venezuela. The program, estimated to last 10 weeks, will offer specialized mentoring and strategic training.

The mentoring will focus on crucial areas such as audience development, editorial quality, sustainability, integral security, and effective media management. In addition, selected projects will receive financial support with the aim of expanding their activities and operations.

To be considered, interested news outlets must have maintained operations for more than a year and be located in Venezuela or have a predominantly Venezuelan audience. In addition, they must have at least two content publishing channels, and prioritize the production of original and local news content.

The deadline for applying to the program is Oct. 13, 2023.
