"The Inter-American Court of Human Rights ordered Nicaragua on Wednesday — for the second time — to release imprisoned journalist Catalino Leo Cárcamo, whose family has been unaware of his whereabouts or health condition since November 2024.
"The court finds Mr. Cárcamo Herrera is at serious risk of suffering irreparable harm to his rights, which makes it urgently necessary to adopt measures to guarantee his rights to life, personal integrity, freedom, and health," says a resolution published by the Inter-American Court on Wednesday.
The court ordered the Nicaraguan government "to proceed with the immediate release of Mr. Catalino Leo Cárcamo Herrera," a directive it had already issued in early January in another resolution on provisional measures, following a request from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights."
