The Association of Education Journalists (Jeduca) of Brazil published a coverage guide for journalists writing about candidate proposals for public education. In November, the country chooses new mayors and city councilors in 5,570 cities.
"Journalists should be attentive to the candidates' promises, always checking whether they are consistent with the duties of mayors and councilors. It is important to check the effective conditions for the implementation of the programs announced by candidates. In the case of the resumption of face-to-face classes, interrupted because of the COVID-19 pandemic, journalists should pay attention to proposals for the implementation of health protocols."
