"Gerardo Delgado, renowned digital journalist of the digital news outlet Ola Manta TV, was shot dead when he went to do journalistic coverage on the Manta - Montecristi road, at the entrance to the La Paola neighborhood.
The incident took place at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 10. Ballistic evidence of nine shots and two firearms were found at the scene. The perpetrators fired two shots from the left window of the vehicle and seven from the right.
Colonel Patricio Almendariz, police chief of the Manta District, confirmed the death of the renowned journalist and ruled out any previous complaint by the journalist warning of any threat against him."
