"Venezuelan journalist Luis Gonzalo Pérez announced this Thursday, September 19, that he left the country in forced exile, after spending two months in hiding due to threats from Nicolás Maduro's government following the July 28 presidential elections.
In a video shared on his social media, the journalist said he and his family left the country, even though migrating had never been part of his plans.
'After a reasonable amount of time, I can now talk to you and explain my current status. I had to leave Venezuela, and I’m now in exile like millions of other Venezuelans. Leaving my own country was never part of my life plans, personal plans, or career plans, and that’s after almost two months in hiding,' he said.”
