"Crime reporter Román Camacho was released from prison in the early hours of Friday, March 7, the journalist himself reported on his social media accounts. Camacho was arrested on Tuesday, March 4, when the National Union of Press Workers (SNTP, for its initials in Spanish) reported that security officials took him away at noon.
What the SNTP said at that time is that the arrest was related to Camacho's coverage of the murder of a person in the José Félix Ribas neighborhood of Petare, for which he was transferred to the headquarters of the Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations Corps (CICPC) of the municipality of El Hatillo.
On Wednesday he was taken to the Palace of Justice in Caracas for the presentation hearing, but the process was postponed. On Thursday, March 6, representatives of the Union accompanied Camacho's wife to the same courthouse, where they remained for several hours awaiting the hearing.
'Now at home, thank you all for your support and your messages of encouragement. I'm going to take this weekend to spend with my family, put everything in order and continue doing what I love,' the reporter for digital media outlet Contrapunto wrote on his account on the social network X early this Friday morning."
