"A journalist from the state of Pará reported he was assaulted by the mayor of Parauapebas, Aurélio Goiano (Avante), during the COP30 climate conference.
Wesley Costa, of Rádio Liberal, said the mayor slapped him in the face. The incident occurred Monday in Belém, which is the host city of the conference and the capital of Pará state.
After the incident, COP organizers revoked the mayor’s credential. On social media, the mayor claimed people were 'exaggerating' the story but did not clarify whether he struck the journalist."
