"Reporter Javier Rumiche and cameraman John Altamirano, both from RPP radio, reported being assaulted by members of the State Security during an official event with President José Jerí at the Civic Promenade in Tacna.
The incident occurred just after the raising of the national flag, at which point the president had invited the journalists to approach him for a conversation.
According to Rumiche's testimony, he and his colleagues tried to approach the head of state when they were surrounded and pushed by the presidential escort, despite carrying microphones and equipment clearly identified with the RPP logo."
