Journalists attacked while covering International Women's Day demonstrations in Mexico

"Attacks against women journalists covering demonstrations in various cities in Mexico on International Women's Day were reported.

In Zacatecas, the detentions of at least five women journalists and human rights defenders were reported. In [the state of] Michoacán, a group of female reporters were documenting the march in [its capital] Morelia when they were attacked by demonstrators with their faces covered. A reporter from a local media outlet was attacked and sprayed with glue.

In Tlaxcala, a correspondent for Milenio newspaper reported being assaulted with water and bleach, as well as being hit in the back of the head by a woman while covering the march."
