Journalist's vehicle set on fire in Coahuila, Mexico

"Journalist Fernando Rodríguez, a contributor to the Noticias Web digital news outlet in [the Mexican state of] Coahuila, reported that he was the victim of an attack in the early hours of Monday morning, April 3, when a man sprayed fuel on his vehicle and set it on fire.

'I thought it was a short circuit (the cause of the fire), and we checked the cameras, because I have a security camera, [...] and we realized that it was a young man, a boy, who came to my home [...], he looked out, sprayed gasoline and then threw a match or something, and let me tell you that this person burned his arm,' the journalist said in a video posted at around 3:00 a.m. of Monday.

In view of this situation, Rodríguez called on the organization Article 19 to document this new aggression and called for support of the [Mexican] Protection Mechanism for Journalists."
