Three Latin American media won the Digital Media Awards Worldwide 2021 by WAN-IFRA (World Association of News Publishers).
Winners are selected from regional awards, awarded by WAN-IFRA in 2021 in Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, North America, and South Asia.
Agência Lupa, from Brazil, won the global award for Best Data Visualization, with the No Epicentro project. Also Brazilian, Infoglobo, a company that includes the newspapers O Globo and Extra, among other brands, won the global award for Best Public Engagement, for coverage of coronavirus without paywall. And the Peruvian Ojo Público won in the global category of Best Media Literacy Project, with Chequeos en lenguas [covid-19 check-ups in indigenous languages].
