“The security and intelligence bills presented by President Claudia Sheinbaum on February 13 have raised serious concerns among independent organizations, which warn of risks they pose to citizens’ privacy, security, and fundamental rights.
The proposals include the creation of the General Law on the Public Security System and the Law on the National System for Security Intelligence and Investigation. These would allow the mass collection of sensitive personal data without judicial oversight or adequate safeguards to prevent abuse.”
