Mexican President accuses Article 19 of being financed by foreign companies and of belonging to conservative movement

"[Mexican] President Andrés Manuel López Obrador accused Article 19, a civil society organization that in 2009 began to keep a record of attacks on freedom of expression in Mexico, of being financed by foreign companies, and even by the U.S. State Department.

'That body is supported from overseas, all the people who have to do with Article 19 belong to the conservative movement that is against us,' he said.

During his press conference, López Obrador criticized the United States for speaking out on human rights violations in Mexico, including attacks on journalists."
