Mexican reporter protests by drawing his own blood outside the Ministry of the Interior

"Omar Bello Pineda, a reporter from Guerrero who has been displaced in Mexico City for three years and has received death threats, protested at the Ministry of the Interior, since the Mechanism for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and Journalists refused to provide him with guards.

Along with another couple of protesters who were doing a sit-in at the Bucareli headquarters, blood was drawn from their arms with the help of a catheter so that officials with the ministry would assist them. 'As a displaced journalist, I have had zero attention from the federal government, from Alejandro Encinas; director of the Unit for Reception of Cases and Rapid Reaction of the Protection Mechanism, who are in charge of providing us with security.'"
