"Comunicación e Información de la Mujer (CIMAC, by its Spanish acronym) presented the research paper 'Dejar todo: Diagnóstico sobre mujeres periodistas en situación de desplazamiento forzado interno en México y de las obligaciones del Estado en materia de atención, prevención y protección' (Leaving everything behind: Diagnosis of women journalists in a situation of forced internal displacement in Mexico and the obligations of the State in terms of attention, prevention and protection). The impact of forced displacement on the lives of women journalists and the scant attention, prevention and protection provided by federal and local governments is hereby put on the table.
In Mexico, CIMAC has recorded 21 journalists who are in a situation of forced internal displacement, lacking any guarantee for their safe return or public policies for them to retake their journalistic projects. This reflects a failure of the current protection strategy led by the federal administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador."
