Mexico: 39 women journalists attacked in two months, report reveals

"The quarterly report on violence against women journalists by the organizations Brot Für Die Welt and Cimac Noticias states that from June 1 to Aug. 1 of this year, 39 cases of attacks for their work were documented. The states with the highest concentration of attacks against women journalists were Baja California, with seven, Mexico City, with seven attacks, and Puebla, with four.

The document specifies that, of the 39 cases, 11 correspond to investigations related to security issues, 10 to coverage or follow-up of corruption cases, and five to human rights issues in their states. Likewise, digital media were the most attacked with 31 cases, followed by print media with four, and radio and television, with two each; the sources and editorial lines most likely to be the target of attacks are politics, with 25; society, nine, and state, with three aggressions."
