Mexico: Fear paralyzes journalists in Guerrero due to the disappearance of three journalists

"Chilpancingo, Guerrero - Three journalists have gone missing in Guerrero since the end of December 2022. They are the journalist Jesús Pintor Alegre and the administrators of a Facebook page, Fernando Moreno Villegas and Alan García Aguilar, disappeared in the region of [the so-called] Tierra Caliente.

Although the information has been confirmed, fear of reactions by leaders of the organized crime group that allegedly deprived them of their freedom, the Familia Michoacana (FM), prevented further reactions from the journalists' groups to demand their search.

The only institution that spoke out was the Human Rights Commission of the State of Guerrero (CDHEG, by its Spanish acronym). Through a communiqué, this organism demanded the authorities find the journalists alive.

News of the disappearance became public on Mon., Jan. 9, because Fernando Moreno and Alan García, administrators of the Facebook page Escenario Calentano, were shown in a video in which they appear in chains.

In this video there is no mention of the third missing journalist, Jesús Pintor Alegre, who was one of the founding reporters of La Jornada Guerrero, the media outlet that hired him and sent him to that region of Guerrero as its correspondent, who stayed there since 2007."
