"Cuban journalists Héctor Luis Valdés Cocho and Esteban Rodríguez received a humanitarian visa in Mexico, reported on Feb. 18 the National Migration Institute (INM) of the Ministry of the Interior.
[…]
Héctor Luis Valdés Cocho and Esteban Rodríguez were forced to leave Cuba in January, after the regime threatened Rodríguez with imprisonment and prosecution for a peaceful protest on Calle Obispo in April 2021.
Rodríguez and Valdés were left stranded in El Salvador, after Nicaragua denied access to board a plane. After more than 30 hours, they managed to enter El Salvador thanks to the help of that country’s government and requests by NGOs such as Reporters Without Borders, which requested asylum for the journalists."
