Mexico: Journalist Jesús Lemus Barajas denounces government threats after book publication

"On Aug. 6, Mexican journalist and writer, Jesús Lemus Barajas, revealed that he is being persecuted by the Mexican Prosecutor's Office following the publication of his recently released book "El fiscal imperial: El eslabón más oscuro de la 4T" [The imperial prosecutor: The darkest link in the 4th transformation or 4T] (Harper Collins, 2022).

In a broadcast made through his YouTube channel, Lemus Barajas said that, according to his sources within the Mexican government, there is an ongoing investigation against him in which they claim his homes in Mexico City and the state of Michoacán are 'possible safe houses.'

'They want to arrest me. In Mexico, conditions for doing journalism are nonexistent. All this comes as a result of the publication of my book.' In his book, the author denounces 'the perversity of prosecutor Alejandro Gertz Manero and how he has corrupted his office. What is his relationship with the upper echelons of power to go about simulating the work of procuring justice?,' Lemus said in an interview with the Independent in Spanish."
