"Journalist Bertín Chino González was detained [on Thu. April 13] by the police of the municipality of San Luis Acatlán, in [the Mexican state of] Guerrero, after he posted a video of a desolate plant nursery that was part of the [President Andrés Manuel López Obrador's program of agroforestry in rural communities] Sembrando Vida (Sowing Life). [...] Chino González was detained and taken to the Municipal Police Station of [the town of] Horcasitas by municipal agents.
[...] The contributor to [the media outlet] Prensa del Sur gave an interview to the portal Diario El Faro de la Costa Chica and he said that he was unaware of the customs and habits of that community. 'Today they let me know that it is forbidden to publish several activities' that take place in that territory. Regarding the dissemination of the videos, Chino González assured that he had no intention of doing so with malice. 'I did it to inform,' he said. He also called on the municipal commissioner Ángel Morales Agustín not to censor journalistic work.
Ángel Morales said that the journalist had already been released, and he also mentioned that the internal regulations of that community establish that any citizen who does not live in that region - as is the case of Chino González - must notify local authorities of their intentions when in that community."
