Mexico: Journalist's home is shot at for the second time in less than two months

"Five days after the murder of journalist Marco Aurelio Ramírez Hernández, on May 23 in Tehuacán [in the Mexican state of Puebla], early this Sunday [May 28] armed individuals opened fire against the home of reporter Pedro Alonso Benítez, located in the community of Santa Catarina Hueyatzacoalco, in the municipality of San Martín Texmelucan [in the same state]. The journalist's office is also located in that property.

This is the third aggression that the journalist has suffered since 2020. The most recent case occurred just last Holy Week and was similar to the one on Sunday. On that occasion, individuals shot at his home at around midnight on Easter Saturday.

[...] Alonso filed a complaint with the State Attorney General's Office (FGE, by its acronym in Spanish) to have the attack investigated in depth and as an aggression against a journalist. At the same time, he expressed his concern because he reiterated that he has been attacked three times [this year], and in this sense, he demanded the authorities not to wait for the next direct attack against him or his family."
