Mexico: López Obrador speculates that attack against journalist sought to harm his administration

"Mexico's President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, warned that the attack against journalist Ciro Gómez Leyva may have been perpetrated by opposition groups seeking to harm his administration.

In his usual daily press conference, López Obrador pointed out that the attack against the journalist could have something to do with the 'transformation process' that his administration is carrying out and that 'some people dislike.'

Journalist and writer Ciro Gómez Leyva was the target of a direct armed attack in Mexico City on Dic. 15, when he was coming home. The incident soon provoked unanimous condemnation from Mexican authorities."
