"This Sunday [July 13], Yris Azócar, the mother of detained journalist Víctor Ugas, asked the Attorney General's Office, the Ombudsman's Office and the Venezuelan Penitentiary Ministry for information on the state of her son's health as a matter of urgency.
'I urgently need to know how my son, Víctor Andrés Ugas, is doing, if he has received medical attention, if he needs medication, if he requires some kind of special examination, what is his diagnosis,' said Azócar in a video published by the National College of Journalists (CNP) on its X account.

Last Friday, the opposition party Voluntad Popular (VP) warned that Ugas requires 'urgent medical attention' because, it said, 'he has had a fever for almost a month,' the 'right side of his face is swollen and painful, he has depressive episodes, and he is dissociated from reality.'"
